ROBERTS PETER S. W.: (1917-1979) English Lieutenant Commander of World War II, Victoria Cross winner for his actions on board HM Submarine Thrasher, north of Crete, on 16th February 1942. A.L.S., P S W Roberts, one page, 4to, Newton Ferrers, Plymouth, Devon, 31st January 1968, to Mr. Hill. Roberts apologises for the delay in answering his correspondent's letter, although is pleased to send his autograph, and wishes them success with their collection. Together with a black ink signature by Roberts on a card, adding his rank etc. beneath his signature. Also including Thomas W. Gould (1914-2001) English Lieutenant of World War II, Victoria Cross winner for his actions on board HM Submarine Thrasher, north of Crete, on 16th February 1942. Black ink signature ('Tommy Gould VC, RN') on a white card, with a few additional words in his hand beneath, 'H.M. S/M Thrasher 1941-43, Great Britain, Victoria Cross 1942, Mentioned in Despatches 1944'. One small stain affecting the printed address of Roberts's letter, generally VG to EX, 3
