[INDIA]: BULWER-LYTTON VICTOR (1876-1947) 2nd Earl of Lytton. British politician and colonial administrator who served as Governor of Bengal 1922-27 and Viceroy of India 1925. Lytton thanks his correspondent for having sent a notice of the home that she is proposing to establish in Florence, adding that he has 'the greatest sympathy with your excellent object', sending a financial contribution towards the expenses and remarking 'I am coming to Italy at the beginning of next week, as I have business to do in Rome. I am afraid that I shall not have time to call at Florence, either on my way out or on my return journey, but if I do I shall certainly look you up, and it will give me great pleasure to see you again'. Together with two individual signed pieces, each neatly clipped from the conclusions of letters and both with several additional lines of text in his hand, one referring to being in Switzerland but returning to London for the opening of parliament.
