HOOVER J. EDGAR: (1895-1972) American law enforcement administrator, the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) 1924-72. Blue fountain pen ink signature ('J. Edgar Hoover') on an oblong 12mo custom printed piece intended for autographs. Together with two identical United States postage First Day Covers honouring Law and Order, one signed by Clarence M. Kelley (1911-1997) American law enforcement officer who served as the second Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation 1973-78, and the other signed by L. Patrick Gray (1916-2005) American law enforcement officer who served as Acting Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation May 1972-April 1973.
