LEHMANN LILLI: (1848-1929) German operatic Soprano and voice Teacher. Among his pupils was Geraldine Farrar. Lehmann sang in the first Bayreuth Festival in 1876, singing in the first complete performances of The Ring Cycle and was considered unsurpassed in the Wagner roles of Brünnhilde and Isolde. A lengthy A.L.S., Lilli Lehmann Kalisch, four pages, 8vo, n.p., Thursday, n.d., on the New York Netherland hotel printed stationery bearing an attractive embossed monogramme, to Mr. Marens, in German. The German soprano states in part ` after I returned from the opera yesterday evening I found your dear letter and the charming gift´, further referring to a talented person, named Engelhardt, from Southern Germany, who cannot be employed by the theatre any more, and asking her correspondent if he may have a job for him.
