BARATINSKY IVAN: (1772-1825) Russian Prince. Chamberlain and Minister under Alexander I. Well known for the magnificent Maryino palace he made build in the Kursk region. A.L.S., Le Prince Baratinsky, one page, 4to, 12th-24th February 1825, to Count Ferronays, in French. The Prince states in part `An absence of few weeks has prevented me from having the pleasure of responding earlier to your letter dated 12th-24th January..´ further saying `I have never seen, never met, and not even heard about Mr. Simon Condère(?)..´ The present letter was written shortly before Baratinky´s death. With extremely small area of paper loss to the upper edge, not affecting the text or signature. Some creases and small tear to the right edge. G £100-150
