PAUL I: (1754-1801) Emperor of Russia 1796-1801. The only son of Peter III and Catherine the Great. Assassinated. L.S., ´Paul´, with holograph, one page, 8vo, Gutschin?, 6th September 1795, to Mr. Von Derschau, in German. The Tsesarevich informs his correspondent that he has done what he promised to him, stating `I have taken care of your son; he has already been employed at my cavalry regiment, under special supervision of the colonel lieutenant. It is a pleasure for me to promise you that I take care of his wellbeing..´ The page bears a Vander Ley watermark. With an extremely small hole to the central fold, not affecting the signature.
