An Enormous and One-Of-A-Kind Collection of the "Zim" Shipping Company

An enormous and one of a kind collection of some 500 paper items and other items from the "Zim" shipping company, including many rare and interesting items. The items were collected by a member of the company over many years and includes items which the company made as part of advertising marketing, and internal items of the ship employees in the company which were meant for internal use. 

The collection contains: 

* Hundreds of paper items: an internal newspaper of the company with a bi-weekly newsletter about what is done in the company - dozens of issues, postcards [among them several postcards sent in the mail with personal correspondence between a sailor in the company and his girlfriend. Some of the postcards appear in several copies] - including photographed postcards, tickets, vacation plans, new years greetings to the employees from the management of Zim, invitations to various company events [toasts and others], gift vouchers for festivals, several calendars, menus, price lists, extensive advertising material, diaries, letter papers, dining room tickets, many internal booklets published by "Zim" with extensive content about the history of the company [some do not appear in the National Library] - the day by day operation, the employees in their various departments with many photographs from the experiences of the sailing, a folder of an internal 'capacity plan' with many diagrams of the company's ships and their various departments according to landmarks, dozens of journey reports of a captain in the company - typewritten, complete years, an internal booklet about security regulations, study booklets published by the company for sailors and employees in stencil print, travel contracts, many 'management newsletter' leaves, maps published by the company, 'commander letters' leaves, books in album format published by the company about the company with important photographs, envelopes with postal stamps stamped with the "Zim" stamp, certificates of acknowledgement, black and white photographs from the deck of the "Moledet" ship described in handwriting,certificates of appreciation for employees for excellence in trips, 'disembarking to the beach' tickets, song sheet, envelopes of the "Theodore Herzl" ship's maiden voyage - stamped, paper napkins with the company's symbol, purchase vouchers, a useful dictionary of common words on voyages published by the company, a personal diary with a handwritten description of a journey, a marine ledger with dozens of stamps from the various voyages, an international medical guide for use of medications on "Zim" ships,  "facts and figures" leaves about the company, grace after meals booklets, alighting cards and more. 

* Many items with the word "Zim" and the company logo: a pleasant silver relief in a wooden frame with the designer's signature on the back in the original box, a can opener, wallets, ashtray, a large number of key rings, matchboxes, olive wood boxes, a lock, telephone books, a magnificent medallion to mark 15 years of service in the company, an olive wood circle with a brass embossing of the company logo and the word "Zim", a box with the company logo containing letter papers with the word "Zim", a sun guard for a vehicle, pen, miniature model of a Zim ship, and more. Some of the items were given out to passengers to advertise the company, and some are original internal items of the company employees. 

The Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. shipping company - one of the twenty largest companies in the world in the field of transporting containers - was established on June 7, 1945 by the Jewish Agency, the Federation and the  Association for development of seamanship in Israel. David Ben Gurion and David Remez were behind the founding of the company. "Zim"'s first ship was purchased in 1947. 

The collection has not been thoroughly examined [especially the personal paper items]. 

Sizes and conditions vary. Some of the items are dusty. Most of the items in the collection are preserved in fine condition.
