"The Story of Zionist Espionage in Egypt" – Anti-Israeli Booklet about the Lavon Affair ("Esek Habish") – ca. 1955
The Story of Zionist Espionage in Egypt. No author's name, no publisher or location of printing, [Cairo?, ca. 1955]. English.
A pro-Egyptian and anti-Zionist booklet, dealing mainly with the "Lavon Affair ("Esek Habish") – the affair of Israeli espionage in Egypt. The booklet details the sabotage actions executed by the members of the espionage cell, how they were caught, what crimes they admitted, and emphasizes the "good treatment they got in jail" in Egypt.
Avri Elad, the Mossad agent who claimed that he betrayed the espionage cell members, is mentioned in the booklet as being a German named Paul Frank – the cover story of Elad.
Part of the booklet is dedicated to the crimes of Israel during the 1940s, mainly during the Independence War period (it mentions the assassinations of Lord Moyne and Count Folke Bernadotte) and the connection between Zionism and communism.
It includes photographs of the Israeli espionage cell members in Egypt (among them Moshe Marzuk, Marcel Ninio, Shmuel Azar and Philip Nathanson) and other photographs related to the "Lavon Affair" and the "Zionist crimes" in Egypt and Palestine.
This booklet is mentioned in an essay by JTA ("Jewish Telegraphic Agency") from 1955, where it says that it was distributed by the Egyptian Embassy in the United States (apparently the booklet was printed on behalf of the Egyptian propaganda office, for propaganda purposes).
