1. Syria, the Holy Land, Asia Minor, etc. Illustrated. In a series of views drawn from nature by W. H. Bartlett, William Purser, etc. London, Paris and New York: Fisher, Son & Co., [1836-1838]. English. Three parts in two volumes.
The book was published in three parts. The first and second parts are bound together, with a separate title-engraving for each part. 119 engraved plates in the book – two maps and engravings depicting views from the Middles East and Palestine (after drawings by William Henry Bartlett).
Vol. I (first two parts): [2] leaves, 80 pp + [37] engraved plates; 76 pp+ [37] engraved plates. Vol. II (third part): 100 pp, [2] leaves + [48] engraved plates. 27 cm. Gilt edges. Good overall condition. Stains. Tissue guards are lacking. Pen- inscriptions on endpapers. Original bindings. Defects and tears to bindings. Spine of first volume is torn (open tears) and partly detached. Front binding of first volume is loose. Open tears to spine of second volume.
2. The Christian in Palestine, or, Scenes of Sacred History, Pictorial and Descriptive by Henry Stebbing. London: George Virtue, [1847]. English.
Survey of different sites in the country, mainly sites with significance to Christianity. Accompanied by 72 engraved plates (including a title page) after drawings by William Henry Bartlett. Seven engraved plates are lacking.
[2], vi, 234 pp + [72] engraved plates (out of 79. Missing seven plates), 27 cm. Gilt edges. Good-fair condition. Stains. Pen-inscriptions on front endpaper. Damaged binding (covered with clear adhesive cover film). Front cover is partly detached and the back cover is detached.
