Ken Miles died in a car crash at Riverside Raceway in California when he was testing a Ford-J car at top speed. In 1966, Henry Ford II is ready to defeat the Ferrari team at Le Mans with his new Ford GT40. When the last Ferrari 330P3 is out and returns to box, the Ford team instructs both Ford GT40 Bruce McLaren & Chris Amon and Denny Hulme & Ken Miles to share the victory and to reach the finish line together. They did so. But the race organization decided later that there can be only one winner, and it would be the one who made the longer distance. McLaren & Amon starting from fourth position, while Hulme & Miles started from second, got therefore the title at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. .
