NEHRU JAWAHARLAL: (1889-1964) Indian Prime Minister 1947-64. T.L.S., Jawaharlal Nehru, one page, 4to, Allahabad, 28th October 1936, to Edward Thompson. Nehru explains to his correspondent that their letter has been received, adding, 'Any how I write to tell you that I shall be here from the 30th October to the 3rd November. When you reach Allahabad you will ring me up and we shall fix a meeting.' With minor foxing and two very small stains to the right edge, not affecting the text or signature, and signs of former mounting to verso. G £80-100 Edward Thompson (1886-1946) British Scholar, Novelist, Historian and Translator. Thompson cultivated friendships with leaders from across the Indian political leadership, including Gandhi, Nehru and Iqbal. He was especially close to Nehru and the two remained in contact until Thompson's death.
