ALEXANDER I: (1777-1825) Emperor of Russia 1801-25. L.S., Alexandre, one page, 4to, Saint Petersburg, 15th June 1824, to Her Royal Highness, the Princess of Monfort, in French. The manuscript letter responds to his correspondent´s one dated 30th March, and the Tsar refers to his `unalterable and sincere feelings for Her Royal Highness´, further saying `Believe me Madame when I say that, on my side, I would experience a real pleasure if the circumstances lead us to an occasion of meeting you allowing me to repeat my words to you in person…´ Alexander I would die the year after and could not meet his correspondent a further time. The letter bears a J. Whatman Turkey Mill 1822 watermark. Folded.
