The Ga'on Rabbi Akiva Sofer [1878-1959] was born to his father, Rabbi Simcha Bunim, Rabbi of Pressburg. He was the head of the Pressburg Yeshiva and the last chief rabbi of Pressburg [Bratislava] before the Holocaust. He immigrated to Eretz Israel and re-established the Pressburg Yeshiva in Jerusalem. He was a member of the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel. He authored the Daat Sofer series of books. In the book "The Chatam Sofer and His Disciples" [by MAZ. Kinslicher] has an extensive chapter on dozens of his students who served as famous rabbis.
