Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom Eliyahu ben Abdalla Nissim with the bride Haviva bat Eliyahu Aharon. Calcutta, 1881.
Parchment, gouache, ink.
The Ketubah is illustrated and written according to the customary version of the Baghdadi congregation in Calcutta, as described in the previous item. On the upper part appears a medallion with the inscription, “בהנ”ו”, two gates with the wedding blessings and the Ketubah text on the lower part. Depicted in the frame, alternately, are birds and flowers while within the wide band separating between the gates and the Ketubah text, two silvery fish with scales swim towards one another, with green flora around them.
70X40.5 cm. Good condition. Minor creases and spots. Minor damages to margins.
