US M1902 HIGH GRADE OFFICER PRESENTATION SWORD
A silver-plated hilt with grip carved from natural material which was darkened in order to contrast the oak leaf decoration. Pristine blade is etched on both sides depicting US Eagle and "U.S.", marked on ricasso THE M.C. LILLEY & CO. COLUMBUS, O." obverse of the ricasso is stamped "IRON CUTTER" (this generally indicates a German made sword blade), original leather buffer is in place. Metal scabbard with engraved presentation "PRESENTED TO CAPT. C. W. PEIRCE BY DEGREE TEAM AND OFFICERS OF LONGFELLOW CAMP 4648 M. W. OF A." gilded scabbard fittings.
