Engraved map of Moscow, coats of arms of Russian Empire and of prince Alexander Danilovach Menshikov, favourite of Peter the Great, with Prince’s motto in Latin «Vertute Duce Comite Fortuna» (may be translated like «Virtue is guide, lack is companion»). With accompanying text about state administration in Russia in the beggining of XVIII century.

Peter the Great’s lifetime edition. Shows contemporary to him Russian Empire condition.
Moscow’s map oriented from East to West like XVIIth century maps and especially like Mallet’s map (Allain Manesson Mallet 1630-1706), which was edited for the engraving collection about different ways to life and countries description named "Description de l'Univers contenant les differents systemes du monde...". There are districts (Kreml, Kitay-gorod, Tsar-gorod, Skorodom, Streletskaia sloboda), rivers (Moscow, Neglinnaia and Tausa?), ramparts with towers, bridges, residential arias, gardens.

Coat of arms of Russian Empire shown like black double-head eagle in full version – around by chain with rosettes and coats of arms of provincial cities, mostly included in full Russian Emperor’s title: Tver, Podolia, Perm, Bulgaria (Bologaria refers to the lands of Volga Bulgaria, which was designated on the map of Russia as "the Bulgarian Principality” until the 18th century; added the Emperor title under Ivan III), Chernigov, Polotsk, Yaroslavl, Adore (Udoria), Condora (Condinia), Mstislavsskii (Mstislassky; the emblem of the horseman with a raised sword), Iberia, Kabarda (Cabardinca), Cherkessia (Cyrkaskay), Kartilinsk (Cartalinsk), Seversk or "North country", like at the Emperor’s title, or Siberia (Seweria), Vitebsk, Obdora, Belozersk, Ryazan, Novgorod (Novogardia), Vyatka, Yugoria (Jugoria), Volyn (Volinia), Smolensk, Pskov (Pleskovia).

Menshikov’s coat of arms also shown in full version. One of the interesting traits can be identified as half-black and half-gilt eagle on the head of coat of arms (in later versions it was full-black).
There are three columns with comments under the images about Russian Empire adminisration (in French).
