Get Pashut. Sudilkov, 1833. Copy Which Belonged to Rabbi Aharon Kotler, with his Signature
Get Pashut - elucidation on the halachahs of divorce documents by Rabbi Moshe ben Chaviv. Published by Rabbi Chanina Lipa Shapira of Slavuta. Printed in Sudilkov. Copy which belonged to the gaon Rabbi Aharon Kotler, with his signature [twice].
'From the books of R"A Kotler' appears on the title page and on the flyleaf, handwritten by him. There is another, lengthy, owner's notation on the title page, by Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Mendelsohn, Av Beit Din of Chechnov.
The printer was the renowned printer of Slavuta, Rabbi Chanina Lipa Shapira, as appears in the approbation by Rabbi Chaim HaKohen Rapoport, at the beginning of the book (also refer to Ch. D. Friedberg, Toldot HaDefus B'Ivri B'Polaniah, pp. 135, in the note).
Rabbi Aharon Kotler [1892-1963] was one of the leading geonim of the generation. He established the Torah world in the United States. He founded and headed the Lakewood yeshivah - the largest yeshivah in the world, a unique case where an entire city was built around the yeshivah. Rabbi Kotler was one of the famous "prodigies" of the Lithuanian yeshivah world. He served as rosh yeshivah of Etz Chaim in Slutzk and then in Kletzk, Poland. Rabbi Kotler was also one of the founders of the "Vaad HaYeshivot" and a member of the Council of Torah Sages in Lithuania and then in the United States, to where he escaped during WWII.
