Halachic Responsum from the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Winkler, Av Beit Din of Mád.
Lengthy halachic responsum in the laws of Choshen Mishpat. Entirely handwritten and signed by the gaon Rabbi Mordechai Winkler, renowned rabbi of Mid. 1918.
Rabbi Mordechai Leib Winkler [1845-1932] studied at the Pressburg yeshivah and was rabbinically ordained by Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Sofer, author of Ktav Sofer. He served as Av Beit Din and rosh yeshivah in Mid, Hungary. This yeshivah, which he established in Mid in 1901, produced many Talmudic scholars and rabbinic instructors. He was considered one of the three pillars of instruction in Hungary in his generation (together with Rabbi Yeshayah Zilberstein, Av Beit Din of Waitzen, and Rabbi Shimon Greenfeld, the 'Maharsha"g'). Rabbi Mordechai Leib was among the greatest halachic responders of his generation, and disseminated Torah to thousands. He authored the series of books Shu"t Levushei Mordechai.
The responsum before us was printed in his book Shu"t Levushei Mordechai, Likkutei Teshuvot siman 179.
