Three lengthy and interesting letters, extending over five pages, by 'the mashgiach' Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe. Jerusalem-Be'er Ya'akov, 1973-1991.
The letters contain interesting content. Rabbi Wolbe writes, inter alia, about Rabbi Yechezkel Levenstein's passing; about consolation and consoling mourners; and about printing books in a foreign language.
The gaon and tzaddik Rabbi Shlomo Wolbeֲ [1914-2005] was one of the leading mashgichim of our generation. He was the last remnant of the mussar movement, the primary disciple and successor to the methods of Rabbi Yerucham Levovitz of Mir. He founded the Be'er Ya'akov yeshivah together with his colleague, Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Shapira. He later left, and delivered mussar lectures in various yeshivahs. Rabbi Wolbe is considered "the elder mashgiach." His series of books Alei Shor and others are exceptional in their clarity of thought and have become required reading for the study of Jewish perspective, in yeshivahs and in teachers' seminaries. Masses would flock to his home for counsel and blessing.
