Large Collection of Books with Glosses and Signatures
Before us a unique collection gathered by its owners with much toil over many years. The collection is comprised of close to 100 books full of glosses, signatures and dedications from rabbinic leaders from all over the Diaspora - Hungary, Galicia, Russia, Poland, Lithuania.
Most of the glosses are unidentified, but their content demonstrates that they came from the crème de la crème. The glosses, signatures and dedications are from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
This collection arrived close to the closing of the catalog, and has been examined only superficially. We will highlight in only one book, a Dyhernfurth gemara, with approximately 300 glosses in a style similar to that of the gaon Rabbi Akiva Eiger's glosses.
