Fyodor Pavlovich Reshetnikov (July 15, 1906, Sursko-Litovsk, Ekaterinoslav province — December 13, 1988, Moscow) was a famous Soviet genre painter and satirist, the Creator of samples of social realism. In 1934, he received the order of the red Star for participating in the Chelyuskin expedition, which he artistically documented. He is best known to our contemporaries thanks to such school-themed paintings as" deuce Again "and"Arrived on vacation".

Dmitry Andreevich Bazhanov (October 14, 1902, Saratov — February 7, 1946, Moscow) was a famous Soviet graphic artist, book artist, calligrapher, and engraver. He worked in the woodcut technique, of which he was a recognized master. Since the 1920s, his illustrations, special letters and font were of high quality and were featured in popular Soviet publications.

Your attention is presented an artistic essay about the voyage of the steamer "Chelyuskin" from Leningrad to Vladivostok. This exciting expedition ended tragically: the ship was lost in the ice of the Polar sea. The book "How we saved Chelyuskintsev" includes fresh reviews of pilots-heroes (Anatoly Lyapidevsky, Sigismund Levanevsky, Mauritius Slepnev, Vasily Molokov, Nikolai Kamanin, Mikhail Vodopyanov, Ivan Doronin) on this topic. The essay is edited by O. Y. Schmidt, I. L. Baevsky and L. Z. Mekhlis.

These original documents revealed the legendary history of the new man to the reader in the 1930s. The creators of the collection set a goal of educating the first Soviet generation.
