AN OTTOMAN SHAMSHIR SWORD IN SILVER MOUNTS, 19 C.
With a 33-inch decorated Damascus steel curved blade, about 1-inch at forte, with gold inlay of characteristic Persian style on both sides featuring maker's mark. Carved bone handle decorated with floral burst rivets and spine. Heavy chiseled steel cross guard with floral decorations, gold and silver wash features. Leather wrapped scabbard with silver-brass gilt mounts.
