AN RUSSIAN IMPERIAL PORCELAIN COMPOTE SET OF TWO
These beautiful centerpieces (tazza) were made by Imperial Factory Kremlin Service in 1897.The pattern designed by Fedor Solntsev in time of Tsar Nicholas I. The center is painted with a black double-headed Imperial Eagle with crown, orb & scepter & surrounded by a gilt band inscribed ‘Nicholas the Emperor & Ruler of all the Russias’. The elaborate border is decorated with blue & green flowers against a burnished gilt ground. Stamped on the bottom in green ink. Ca. 1897.
