ZIEREIS FRANZ: (1905-1945) German SS-Obersturmfuhrer, Commandant of Mauthausen concentration camp 1939-45. Rare, dark fountain pen ink signature ('Ziereis') on a very slim oblong 8vo piece neatly clipped from an official document and bearing several additional words in the hand of Ziereis, including the date 19th August 1937. Autographs of Ziereis are rare in any form as a result of his death at the age of 39 following his being shot by American officers whilst trying to escape from Austria at the end of World War II.
