Ermolin Rem Nickolaevich (1926, Leningrad – 2004, Syktyvkar).

People`s Artist of the RSFSR, People`s Artist of Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Laureate of Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic Prize. Since 1970 – the Chairman of the Board of the Artists Union in Komi Republic. Studied at the arts studio in Syktyvkar, then at the department of graphic arts in Leningrad Pedagogical College (1947-1951). Since 1954 – through 1960 studied at the faculty of painting in the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture after I.E. Repin under A.A. Mylnikov, B.S. Ugarov, V.M. Oreshnikov. In 1960 he moved to Komi. Since 1957 he became a painter for “Chushkanzi” satirical magazine in Syktyvkar. Became an author of pictures, dedicated to depicting of life in northlands (“Ust-Cylemskiy Cycle). The major canvas of the Ust’-Tsylemskiy cycle was awarded the diploma of USSR Arts Academy in 1975. R.N. Ermolin became an exibitioner since 1957. Ermolin`s works took part in international exhibitions of Germany (1962, 1972), Poland (1971), Czechoslovakia, Romania, Mongolia (1972), Bulgaria (1978), Japan (1973). The artists` personal exhibitions took place in Syktyvkar (1977), Moscow (1976), Lovech (Bulgaria, 1984). R.N. Ermolin`s works are kept in the Museum of Arts Academy in St. Petersburg, in the Republican Arts Museum of Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and other museums.
