Auction 1 Collector's Library: Art books, Catalogues and Reference books
By AW Auctions
May 19, 2021
3B, 1st Lyusinovsky Lane, Moscow (Sherwood Tenement Building), Russia

More than 250 years ago, the major auction houses Sotheby's and Christie's began their history with book auctions. We decided that our first auction would also be a book auction. Oh these ambitions and plans... What of them will be realized, only time will tell.

For this auction, we have selected books from several Collectors' libraries. Some books came to us from Yekaterinburg, some from St. Petersburg, and some we found in old Moscow apartments.

We have a very special attitude to books, especially art books, as we work with them every day in attribution and fact-checking, etc. We believe that "book therapy" can help to recover the strength.

We look forward to seeing you at our book auction!

All books can be export from Russia. Please send us an email if you have any questions re Shipping from Russia.

Please note that the date is postponed to May, 19 2021

[Russian Edition] Velázquez in the museums of the USSR /Kemenov Vladimir/

Leningrad, Aurora Publishing House, 1977

180 pp., illustrations, 20.5 by 22.5 cm

In Publisher's hardcover with book jacket in good condition.

The work of the genius Spanish painter of the 17th century Diego Velazquez belongs to the heights of world art. Most of his works are in Madrid in the Prado Museum, some of his works are kept in London, Rome, New York, Washington, Vienna, Paris, Budapest, and other cities. In the museums of the USSR, there were several works, either directly written by Velazquez, or repetitions made from the originals of the artist in his workshop. These works are of great artistic value and provide an opportunity, albeit in fragments, to get acquainted with the different periods of Velazquez's work. The author of the book is Vladimir Semenovich Kemenov, Doctor of Arts, Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Arts in Barcelona. Considering the works of Velazquez belonging to the museums of the USSR, he argues his considerations about their authenticity or about the authenticity of those originals, copies or replicas of which they are, as well as their dating, drawing on a number of the artist's works located in various museums around the world. The publication contains a huge number of tone and color illustrations, some of which are considered in detail.

Russian Edition.
