The Academia publishing house played a major role in the history of the Soviet book, in introducing the young Soviet intelligentsia to the world cultural heritage. The Academia brand first appeared on the edition of Plato's Works in 1922. During its existence (1922-1937), the publishing house published more than a thousand books. It created a new, unique type of book, and an important role in this was played by the high level of printing performance and artistic design of books.
