Romas Jacob Dorofeyevich (1902, near Grodno – 1969, Astrakhan).
The laureate of the Stalin prize (1948). A full member of the Academy of Arts of USSR. He studied in Moscow, in the Prechistenka technical institute (1922 – 1924), the classes by N.P. Krymov, as well as he attended the classes by K.N. Istomin, S.V. Gerasimov and P.P. Konchalovsky at the Artistic and Theatric Classes/ the Artistic and Theatric Institute (1924-1930). A participant of exhibitions since 1933. The author of decoration of the Krasnoselskaya station of the Moscow subway. The senior artist of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (1950-1954). He was a tutor in the Surikov Moscow State Institute of Arts (1948 – 1950). The artist’s personal exhibitions were carried out in Moscow (1945, 1952, 1961, 1962, 1967), Leningrad (1962) and other cities. J.D. Romas’s pictures are kept in the Tretyakov State Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Dresden painting gallery, the Astrakhan painting gallery by B.М. Kustodiev, etc
