Papikian Albert Stepanovich (1926, Spitak district, Armenia – 1997, Moscow).
People’s Artist of Russia. As a schoolchild, Albert Papikian won the all-union contest and the right to study at the Painting School for gifted children in Moscow. His works include portraits, landscapes and thematic pictures. He studied at the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture, where B. Ioganson was his teacher. Papikian’s diploma work was The Stakhanovist Workers at the Sevan Water Power Plant Construction. In 1949 he joined the Artists’ Union and began to participate in exhibitions. His posthum one-man show took place in the Moscow Academy of Arts in 2000. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Museum of the Academy of Arts and in the Navy museum of St. Petersburg as well as in art galleries of Tver, Smolensk and other cities.
