Andronov Nickolay Ivanovich (1929, Moscow – 1998, Moscow).
Full member of the Russian Academy of Arts. One of the creators of the so called ‘severe style’. He studied at the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (1948-52), and, having moved from Leningrad to Moscow, continued his education at the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute till 1954. Apart from easel painting, he worked in the field of mural decoration, and executed mosaics of the Oktyabr cinema and the Izvestia publishing house. Since 1958, he repeatedly participated in international exhibitions. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, in numerous other museums in Russia, and also in Cologne, Vienna, and London.
