Toidze Irakli Moiseevich (1902 - 1985)
Soviet painter and graphic artist. People's Artist of the Georgian SSR (1980). Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1951). Laureate of four Stalin Prizes (1941, 1948, 1949, 1951). He studied with his father, the famous artist and architect M. Toidze. In 1930 he graduated from the Tbilisi Academy of Arts. Creates a series of posters during the Great Patriotic War ("Under the banner of Lenin - forward to the West!" (1941), "For the Motherland!" (1943), "Let's liberate Europe from the chains of fascist slavery!" (1945). He received worldwide fame his poster “The Motherland Calls!” (1941) and repeatedly acted as a book illustrator (illustrations for the books “History of Georgia” (1950) and “Anthology of Georgian Poetry” (1948)).
