Kuznetsov Nikolay Efimovich (1876 – 1970)

Well-known Russian painter, avant-gardist. Born in Moscow in 1876. He didn’t study at neither professional specialized schools nor universities, though he was fond of painting from his very childhood. He got to know basis and all the secrets of painting at private studios under V. Serov and K. Korovin. In 1906 Nikolay Kuznetsov tokk part in an exhibition of the Moscow Association of Painters for the first time. In 1915 he became a chief of “Free Art” organization. A year later the artist exposed his works together with the Knave of Diamonds painters. Besides that he decorated theatrical plays and established his own theatre school. Was a member of Moscow Union of Artists from 1933. His works are held in the State Tretyakov Gallery and many regional museums.
