Petrov-Vodkin Kuzma Sergeevich (1878, Khvalynsk, Saratov Province - 1939, Leningrad).
Painter. Member of the Four Arts and World of Art societies, on one of the exhibitions of which the ‘Bathing of a Red Horse’ work was first presented. He took art classes of Fedor Burov in Samara (1895-1897), and then studied at the Baron Stieglitz School of Technical Drawing in St. Petersburg (1895-1897). In 1905, Petrov-Vodkin finished the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, being a student of V. Serov. He also took classes of A. Aschbe in Munich (1901) and studied in private academies of Paris (1905-1908). The artist’s works are exhibited in the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum.
