Kibrik Evgeniy Adolfovich (1906, Voznesensk – 1978, Moscow).
People’s artist of the USSR (1967), acting member of the USSR LKh (1962). Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1948). During 1922-1925 he studied at Odessa Institute of Fine Arts under P.G. Volokidin and T.B. Fraerman, then at Academy of Arts (1925-1927) in Leningrad. During 1927-1930 was one of the most active members of the association “Master of Analytical Art” (also known as MAI) founded by P.N. Filonov. Since 1953 taught in Moscow Institute of Arts named after V.I. Surikov (professor since 1954). The most significant graphical cycles created by Kibrik are the series of romantic illustrations to Colas Breugnon by R. Rolland (1934-1936), The Legend of Ulenspiegel by Ch. De Coster (1937-1938), Taras Bulba by N.V. Gogol (1943-1945) and Russian Heroic Epos (1948-1950). His works can be found in the State Tretyakov Gallery and many other Russian museum collections.
