Shankov Mikhail Yurievich (born 1962)
Soviet and Russian artist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts. In 1983 he graduated from the Moscow Art School in Memory of the 1905 Revolution. In 1991 he graduated from the Moscow Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov, portrait workshop of I. S. Glazunov. From 1991 to 1992, by invitation, he worked in the USA: in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, participated in the creation of the Sheremetev gallery “Russian Art” in Boston, and taught a portrait class at the Sharon Art Center, Vermont, USA. Participant of exhibitions since 1994. In 2002, he was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts from the Painting Department. Since 2017 - Professor at the Department of Composition of the Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 2022 he was awarded a silver medal of the Russian Academy of Arts. The artist’s works are presented in the collections of the Museum of the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of Ilya Glazunov, the Wellesley Museum (USA), and the Serpukhov Museum of History and Art.
