Kazantsev Vladimir Gavrilovich (1849, Ekaterinburg - 1902, Poltava)
Ural landscape painter, academician of painting. One of the first professional artists of Yekaterinburg. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in 1870 and worked in his specialty for ten years. In the fall of 1879, together with his brother Gavriil Kazantsev, he founded the first amateur drama theater in Yekaterinburg and worked there as a designer. In 1880 he left for St. Petersburg, entered the Academy of Arts - in the class of M. K. Klodt, whose influence can be seen in many of Kazantsev’s subsequent works. In 1884 he graduated from the Academy with the title of class artist of the second degree and returned to Yekaterinburg. In Yekaterinburg and the Urals he painted landscapes until 1893. In 1887 he presented his works at the Siberian-Ural Scientific and Industrial Exhibition. Was awarded the UOLE gold medal. In 1890 he was awarded the gold medal of the Kazan Scientific and Industrial Exhibition. In 1891 he received the title of class artist of the first degree.
