Veydemanis Egil Karlovich (1924, Moscow – 2004, Moscow).
An honoured painter of Russia. The laureate of the Moscow City Hall Prize 2003 awarded for his portfolio devoted to Moscow. The prize-winner of Russian Academy of Arts 2003. A son of the chief painter K.Y.Veydemanis, who works in the Latvian theatre “The Scatuve”. Upon his army discharge he studied at the Moscow Art College in memory of 1905 year (1944) taking classes from V.N. Baksheev, N.B. Terpsikhorov, at the Paint Shop of the Great Patriotic War veterans under G.A. Sretensky and attended V.F. Shtanikh’s art studio. Graduated from Latvian State University, architectural faculty. Much travelled, visited the Far East, North, Baltics and Middle Asia. Created indoor scenes of Russian antique manors, as Kuskovo and Ostankino. Created a portfolio devoted to Moscow of the war years. His personal expositions were held in 1985, 2002 and 2005 (posthumously) in Moscow and in 1987 in Riga and Cesisa (Latvia). Aregular exhibitioner of All-Russia art exhibitions. The painter’s works are kept in the Museum of History and Moscow Reconstruction, in museums of Riga, Ryazan, Riga, Cesisa (Latvia). The most part of the author’s collection was acquired by the USSR Ministry of Culture.
