Paris. Librairie Hachette. 1903. 292 p., Fig. Size 18 x 27 cm. In hardcover with rich gold and color lettering on the binding covers and spine. Triple gold shotgun. The book is printed on vellum paper. Black-and-white illustrations (screensavers, endings, and text illustrations) are made in the face woodcut technique. Rare first edition.
Good condition. A donation inscription in French, dated 1920. Cover scuffs, block cracks, foxings. The book describes the events that take place in the Vosges - one of the departments in the East of France, during the terror.
Ernest Daudet (31 may 1837-21 August 1921) was a French journalist, writer and historian, and the older brother of Alphonse Daudet.
