[Saint-Menoux (fr. Saint-Menoux) is a commune in France, located in the Auvergne region. Commune Department - Allier. It is part of the canton of Souvigny. District of the commune - Moulins.
The land of the powerful Bourbon dynasty.
The engraving shows Saint Menou Abbey.
The monastery was founded in the VI century by Saint Meven (Meen), after whom it was named.
By the end of the 8th century, the original foundation fell into disrepair.
In 818 Elokar, Bishop of Aleta, rebuilt it.
In 919 it was destroyed by the Vikings.
A century later, it was transformed into a Benedictine monastery, where the remains of Saint Petrok were kept for a short time after the thief gave them to the abbey.
In the 17th century, the abbey passed through the hands of the Maurists, Oratorians and Lazarists.
The commune has preserved the Romanesque church of Saint-Menou (XII century), formerly part of a Benedictine monastery.]
