Russian Russian actress Vera Fyodorovna Komissarzhevskaya (October 27 [November 8] 1864 — February 10 [23] 1910) was the elder sister of Russian and Soviet theater and film actress N. F. Skarskaya (1868 — 1958).

Vera Fyodorovna Komissarzhevskaya (until the end of the 1930s, her last name was written Komissarzhevskaya) was born in St. Petersburg on October 27 (November 8), 1864 in the family of the Russian Opera artist and music teacher F. p. Komissarzhevsky.

In 1891, in St. Petersburg, Vera Komissarzhevskaya first performed on the Amateur stage in the Naval Assembly of the Naval crew in the role of Zina (the play "Burning letters" by P. p. Gnedich). Her stage debut was preceded by classes with the famous actor of the Alexandrinsky theater V. N. Davydov. Then Komissarzhevskaya began to take part in performances of the Society of art and literature (Moscow), directed by K. S. Stanislavsky.

Playing the role of Betsy in the Fruits of enlightenment (1891), Komissarzhevskaya attracted the attention of professional theater figures. She was invited to Novocherkassk in the entreprise of N. N. Sinelnikov (played in 1893-1894) for the role of "ingenue" and vaudeville roles with singing.

The performance of Komissarzhevskaya's roles in one-act plays and vaudevilles was imbued with gaiety, vivacity, and genuine humor.

In 1894-1896 Komissarzhevskaya worked in Vilna in the entreprise of K. N. Nezlobin, playing about 60 roles at this time: Rosie ("butterfly Fight" by G. Zuderman), Larisa ("the Dowager" by A. N. Ostrovsky), Louise ("Guile and love" by Schiller), Sofia ("Woe from wit" by A. S. Griboyedov), Klerchen ("the Death of Sodom" by Zuderman), etc.

Alexandrinsky theater:

In 1896, Komissarzhevskaya entered the stage of the Alexandrinsky theater. The first noisy success comes to her after the role of Larisa in "Bespridannitsa". This was followed by the roles of Nina Zarechnaya in Chekhov's "the Seagull", Marikka in the play "Ivan's night Lights" by Zuderman, Margarita in "Faust" and others.

Opening of the Drama theater:

Leaving the stage of the Alexandrinsky theater, Komissarzhevskaya spent two seasons traveling around the province, where she had previously toured annually. The purpose of this two-year tour was to raise funds for their own theater.

At this time, Komissarzhevskaya indirectly participated in the revolutionary movement. With the money raised from her charity speech, equipment was purchased for the illegal Baku printing house Nina, which from 1901 to 1906 printed pamphlets of the social-democratic, social-revolutionary and other anti-government parties.

Komissarzhevskaya opened its own Drama theater (in the building of the modern shopping center Passage) September 15, 1904. For the first few years, the production part of the theater was headed by V. F. Komissarzhevskaya's brother Fyodor Komissarzhevsky. The repertoire was based on works by Ibsen, Chekhov, and Ostrovsky.

Since 1906, V. E. Meyerhold has been working as a stage Director at the Komissarzhevskaya Drama theater. In one season, he produced 13 performances, but after several failures, Komissarzhevskaya suggested that he leave. After the break with Meyerhold, the symbolist poet V. ya. Bryusov was invited to the theater, but this collaboration was not successful.

Recent year:

In 1909, Komissarzhevskaya's disappointment with her own theater forced her to make a difficult decision: to leave it. Vera Fyodorovna has a new dream-to create a theater school. Before that, she went on tour, which turned out to be the last in her life.In 96, Komissarzhevskaya entered the stage of the Alexandrinsky theater. The first noisy success comes to her after the role of Larisa in "Bespridannitsa". This was followed by the roles of Nina Zarechnaya in Chekhov's "the Seagull", Marikka in the play "Ivan's night Lights" by Zuderman, Margarita in "Faust" and others.]
