Mechir Yayin, commentary on Megilas Ester by Rabbeinu the Rema. [Warsaw], [1866].

Sefer Mechir Yayin, new, good and nice commentary on Megilas Ester, by Rabbi Moshe ben Yisroel called Isserla. [Warsaw], [1866].

[1], 3, 5-20 leaves, 20 cm. The title page refers to the place and year of printing of the first edition [Cremona, 1559]. Warsaw was determined as the place of printing according to "Beis Aked Seforim".

Background: This Sefer is the first by Rabbeinu the Rema, which was written in Shidlov, Poland, to where he moved in 1556 after an epidemic broke out in the area of Krakow. The author dedicated his composition to his father, as a substitute for the Mishlo'ach manos he was incapable of sending, being a wandering and penniless refugee. In his commentary, the author draws an analogy between the story of Megilas Ester and the varied stages of a man's life.

New binding with gilt lettering, stains, good condition.
