Embroidered matzah cover. Jerusalem [?], 1895
Cotton embroidery on cloth.
Square cloth with trimmed edges. Three compartments with embroidered tags: Kohen, Levi, Yisrael. The exterior border has the embroidered text: ברוך אתה וכו' על אכילת מצה, the upper section has the embroidered letters for the year - תרנ"ד, and the bottom section bears the secular date 1895. The name יעקב כארתניק appears at center surrounded by floral decorations. Beads scattered across the surface.
35x33 cm. Many unravelled threads, faded cloth.
