«The specifics of the performance of the battalion genre composition are close to habits of the Soviet artists from the 1930-s to the 1970-s. In particular, the theme and imagery of depicting the civil war through the Red Army cavalry intersect with the traditions of artists of the Project group of war artists named in honor of M.B. Grekov. The touch expresses a confident academic training of the author. Outstanding by its persuasive and fluent rendering of horse figures and images of military commanders, and by the decisiveness of composition, the work is a typical example of the animalistic battalion painting of the middle of the 20th century. The work is completed on a professional level and is worthy of collectors’ interest.»
Dmitriy Petrovich Chernyaev (born in 1931) — a Soviet painter. Was born in Moscow. Graduated from the Art College named in honor of Kalinin and the Moscow Art Institute in honor of V.I. Surikov. Works in Moscow. An active participant in art expositions. The works are represented in many museums and private collections.
