FREDERIC REMINGTON BRONZE SCULPTURE WICKED PONY
Frederic Remington (American, 1861–1909) museum quality bronze sculpture, The Wicked Pony. Circa:1940s-1960s. Mounted on a high quality marble base. Signed with engraving on a base. A gilded plate showing detailed information about the artwork is attached to the round marble base on the front. In his third sculpture, The Wicked Pony, Remington reversed the dominance of the cowboy over the horse depicted in his highly successful Broncho Buster. Here the cowboy has been thrown to the ground and struggles to maintain a hold on the ear of his bucking horse. Frederic Remington was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in depictions of the American Old West. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring such images as cowboys, American Indians, and the US Cavalry.
