AFTER SEURAT BATHERS AT ASNIERES OIL PAINTING
A very fine quality French oil painting on canvas, rendering reproduction from the painting Bathers at Asnieres by Georges Pierre Seurat. The original painting was created in 1884. The canvas is of a suburban, placid Parisian riverside scene. Isolated figures, with their clothes piled sculpturally on the riverbank, together with trees, austere boundary walls and buildings, and the River Seine are presented in a formal layout. The Bathers at Asnieres are considered one of the pearls of the collection of the London National Gallery. Housed in a gilt wood frame with a canvas trim. The reproduction is signed as well as the original work on the left below. etched on a center brass name plate: Georges Seurat 1859 - 1891. Stamped on the backside: Rendering Made in Canada.
