FRENCH ILLUSTRATION SCENE ETCHING BY RAOUL DUFY
Raoul Dufy, French, 1877 to 1953, etching on paper, Coiffeuse, one plate illustration from the Stepchild or Love at Forty by Eugene Montfort. Circa: 1930. Provenance: Property of Stephanie P. Maiter. Raoul Dufy, a French Fauvist painter, later Cubist. He developed a colorful, decorative style that became fashionable for designs of ceramics and textiles. He is noted for scenes of open air social events. He was also a draftsman, printmaker, book illustrator, scenic designer, designer of furniture, and planner of public spaces.
