Depending on how much the price they hear corresponds to their expectations and the state of their wallet, they look at the piece. The artistic side is left out of the evaluation. No one would think to appraise a canvas by Leonardo da Vinci in terms of the cost of canvas and paint, whereas in the jewellery field it happens quite often.
The author of the book Elena Veselyaya is an expert in the jewellery field. She is editor-in-chief of J&W Russia ("Jewelry and Watches") magazine and annual catalogue JEWELLERY.
