PHASELIS, Lycia Silver Stater, ca. 250-220 B.C.E., 10.05 g.
Obv.: Prow of a galley to right, ornamented with race torch, while the reverse depicts the stern of a galley. The galley on the obverse may have been a trireme. The prow on the obverse shows a triple gefächertem Rammsporn, Auge, Kampfplattform under s-förmig gekrümmtem Akrostolion. The stern on the reverse depicts a weit zurückgeschwungenem, aufgefächerten Aphlaston (Heckzier). Rev.: Legend reads ΦΑΣΗ ΝΑΥΣΙΚΡΑΤΗΣ. does not appear in Heipp-Tamer: Die Münzprägung der lykischen Stadt Phaselis in griechischer Zeit (1993) and neither in SNG von Aulock, apparently an unpublished magistrate. auction Bank Leu #83, 6-7 May 2002, lot 355.
