CAPOTE TRUMAN: (1924-1984) American Writer. A.L.S., Truman, to one side of a colour picture postcard of the beach at Lloret de Mar, Palamos, Costa Brava, Spain, n.d. (c.1960-65; post mark indistinct, other than the month of May), to Leonard Lyons ('Cher Leonardo') at the New York Post. Capote writes, in full, 'Why have you stopped sending me your columns?!!! How am I supposed to keep up? Above is my address until end of Sept. Miss you. Hello to Sylvia, and love to you both'. VG
Leonard Lyons (1906-1976) American Newspaper Columnist for the New York Post where his columns, The Lyons Den, became a New York institution covering theatre, movies, politics and art. It was in the Spanish fishing village of Palamos where Capote wrote his non-fiction novel In Cold Blood (1966) which became an instant success and is regarded by critics as a pioneering work in the true crime genre.
