WEST MAE: (1893-1980) American actress and sex symbol. Vintage signed colour cigarette card, issued as number 47 in the John Player & Sons second series of Film Stars, featuring an image of West in a head and shoulders pose. Signed in bold red fountain pen ink with her name alone to a clear area at the base of the image. Together with Charles Laughton (1899-1962) English actor, Academy Award winner. Vintage signed colour cigarette card, issued as number 30 in the John Player & Sons series of Film Stars, featuring an image of the actor in costume as King Henry VIII from The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933). Signed in black fountain pen ink with his name alone across the image. It was for his performance in this film that Laughton won a Best Actor Oscar. Unusual in this form. VG, 2
